Child Exploitation Helpline – 0808 800 5000 (Nov 15)

On 3rd November 215, Hackney Children and Young People’s Services and the NSPCC, in conjunction with the City and Hackney Safeguarding Board and its partners, will be launching a campaign appealing to adults in particular to share any concerns they have about the exploitation of Hackney children and young people, specifically around:

  • gang involvement or activity
  • sexual exploitation or abuse
  • radicalisation

Exploitation of our children and young people is a significant risk to their safety and wellbeing, yet indicators suggest it is under-reported in all of the above areas. It is anticipated that working in partnership with the NSPCC will further encourage the public to share information and concerns while providing an alternative route to support than more conventional channels.

In support of the helpline, over 60 posters went live across the whole of Hackney on 3 November. The attached leaflet will be sent out with the Council’s newspaper, Hackney Today, going to every household in the Borough, as well as being shared with professionals such as GPs and schools. The Board will also be tweet details about this campaign in the coming days. Follow us on twitter for more details @LSCB_CHSCB.
