Course details:

Aim of the course

  • To increase participants’ ability to deliver positive, early interventions focused on safeguarding of Roma children and vulnerable adults in a culturally competent way.


By the end of the training participants will have:

  • Explored Roma communities’/individuals’ disadvantages and strengths, including: coping mechanisms; barriers to engagement and making changes; and parenting skills.
  • Considered Roma families’ understanding of UK norms and expectations related to safeguarding and parenting.
  • Gained an understanding regarding how best to support Roma individuals and communities and strategies for overcoming the challenges.
  • Considered how to set up effective/ successful interventions and activities.
