Child Exploitation Helpline

On 3rd November 215, Hackney Children and Young People’s Services and the NSPCC, in conjunction with the City and Hackney Safeguarding Board and its partners, will be launching a campaign appealing to adults in particular to share any concerns they have about the exploitation of Hackney children and young people, specifically around:

  • gang involvement or activity
  • sexual exploitation or abuse
  • radicalisation

Exploitation of our children and young people is a significant risk to their safety and wellbeing, yet indicators suggest it is under-reported in all of the above areas. It is anticipated that working in partnership with the NSPCC will further encourage the public to share information and concerns while providing an alternative route to support than more conventional channels.

In support of the helpline, the attached posters will go live on over 60 poster sites across the whole of Hackney on 3 November. Shortly after, the attached leaflet will be sent out with the Council’s newspaper, Hackney Today, going to every household in the Borough, as well as being shared with professionals such as GPs and schools.
